Thai PR applications for 2020 to open shortly
Good news for long term expats living and working in Thailand. According to the RTY9 news website, the Thai cabinet has authorised the Ministry of Interior to begin receiving Thai permanent residency applications for 2020. While no date has been set to begin receiving applications, we expect that immigration will be able to start accepting applications from May 2020 onwards until the end of the year.
Traditionally the window for applications have only been open in the last few weeks of December each year, so this is positive news for expats living in Thailand who want to lay down some permanent roots here.
For a guide on how to go about applying, please see our guide on Thai permanent residency here.
Remember, if you are married to a Thai citizen and living and working in Thailand, you can skip permanent residency and apply for Thai citizenship. Check out how you can do that here.
